Average thickness and weight vary. The gong is hand made.
With an increased thickness and modified hammering this gong is designed to provide a more focused sound than a traditional wind gong with extended sustain while still providing vibration that is able to be felt without making contact with the body.
A standard wind gong will lose the energy imparted by the gong strike readily by design. The Therapeutic gong has a focused sound providing for less energy to be eaten up by linear modes of vibration across the face of the gong.
